How to add Blank Slide (not master In middle of presentatio) with PP XP

this is probably a simple deal but I can't find the answer in help files.
How do I place just a blank, black slide in the middle of a presentation
that has a template attached to it?? I don't want it formatted.. just
black screen

I'm not sure I understand the question. But I'll take it as you are using a
template and want a slide be black with no elements of the template showing.

Simply add a slide (Blank layout it you wish). Click the Background command
in the Format menu. Click Omit Background Graphics and then choose Black as
the background color.
