When I add an autoshape I get bullets - why?

I had a student today who was adding a Cloud callout autoshape. Everytime he
added one, when we went to enter the text, he got a bullet. The only way to
stop this was to click the Bullets button on the toolbar.

Haven't a clue why it happened - it doesn't happen when I open a new file
but I just wondered whether anyone has seen this before.

Many thanks
Joy

After removing the bullets, right-click on the shape and choose "Set
AutoShape Defaults." This will make the default no bullets for future auto-
shapes. If you like the bullets as the default, add bullets to a shape,
right-click on it, and "Set AutoShape Defaults" again.

You've got a bullet set in your textbox/autoshapes default in this
presentation.

Format the cloud the way you want it. Then right-click and select "set
autoshapes default." That should take care of it.

I tried that, but I keep getting a hanging indent in the text box. So, I
removed the bullets by pushing the "bullet" icon, and then did the "set
autoshape defaults", but when I start typing text, I get that hanging indent
where first line is flush left, but rest of lines have an indent.

Plz help

Hi

Turn on the ruler and you will see the little marker denoting the indent on
the second line - move this marker to the left hand side until you have no
indent.
