How to add activity type in Calendar appointments / meetings?

I use my Calendar not just for planning, but also to record actual time
spent. I.e. at the end of each day, I update the length of any appointment
(= task) or meeting to the actual time spent on it.
Via the categories (= projects) I can then make stats of my time spend per
project per month.
However, I would like to go a step further, i.e. add an 'activity type'
field to the appointment / meeting form (e.g. for concept definition, process
flow creation, template creation, ...), so I could also analyze easily how
much time I spend per activity type per project.
I did not find a natural candidate for such field in the existing fields for
a Calendar appointment / meeting.
Any suggestions how to handle this issue?

You can customize your Calendar form to achieve that.
This is a good place to start;
