Adaptec 2410 incorrectly recognized as ATI ehome wonder card

Can someone please help? I've installed a Adaptec AVC2410 MPEG-1,
MPEG-2 hardware encoding PCI card. But when I boot up my PC and login
to Windows XP Pro SP2, the system appears to recognizes the card as an
ATI ehome wonder multimedia video controller. It has a warning icon
next to it in device manager - This Device Cannot Start (Code 10).
I've uninstalled it and tried again - no luck. I've unintalled it and
tried to manually install Adaptec AVC2410 using the appropriate drivers
but get a warning icon next to it in device manager - This Device
Cannot Start (Code 10). When I get the system to search again for new
hardware, it again seems to 'find' a ATI ehome wonder multimedia video
controller. I'm out of ideas...help and advise would be greatly
appreciated.
