I have Ad-aware 6 and just getting around to install it when I saw Ad-aware
SE Personal. Is the former an older version or does each do different
things?
And is there a preference between these two?

Thanking in advance

Adaware 6 is the older version. Use SE as it has an updated scanner
etc.

Opinions personal, facts suspect.

AdAware 6.181 is still being supported with new Reference Files- the
latest is dated 14/09/2004. The new SE edition keeps being updated to new
version numbers, the latest being 1.05, with a Reference File dated
13/09/2004 as I compose this post. It strikes me that the new SE version
of AdAware is still progressing through a Beta phase, and since the older
(stable) 6.181 version is still being updated, I will delay my upgrade to
SE for another month or so.

YMMV,
Ian.

Although I agree with you about Ad-aware being in beta stage it's best if you
upgrade, it does scan better/deeper than the 6.1 version.

Wait-and-see here too. IIRC, they said they'll support v6 90
days. Presumably from the roll-out day of SE.

I wish I had. I'm getting damn tired of dl'ing all those versions.

And on a related note, doncha just hate it when people get free stuff and
have the *nerve* to complain about it? ;-p

I think I'll install Ad-aware 6 and in month or so go to SE.

Thanks for these opinions.

The SE version has the ability to kill explorer.exe before cleaning
so there is less need to run at startup to catch those it could not
cleaned because explorer.exe is keeping it in use.
