Outlook 2000? You're more than a "little" behind the times. Outlook
2000 has at least one problem when Vista is the OS... it can't seem to
remember passwords.

Probably.
If you get an option to "repair" when you try to reinstall it (2003
gives that option), do that. Otherwise I would guess that a reinstall
is called for.
