ActiveX Problem?

I have Windows XP and IE 6.0. I can not perform
transactions (logins, purchases, etc.) on line. IE
instead sends me to some search page (Incredifind.com).

Assuming its a patch problem, I try to go to Windows
Update and get the following error message:

Your current security settings prevent running
ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, this page may
not display correctly.

Then I am directed to the following page:

Administrators Only

To install items from Windows Update, you must be logged
on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators
group. If your computer is connected to a network,
network policy settings may also prevent you from
completing this procedure.

Note If you are running a Windows 2000 (except
DataCenter), Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003 operating
system, you can run the local administrator account on
your computer without having to log off and then log on
again.

To run as the local administrator in Windows XP or
Windows Server 2003:

Click Start, and then click All Programs (or right-click
Windows Update if it is available).
Right-click Windows Update.
Click Run as on the menu that appears.
Do one of the following:
Enter the password for the administrator.
Enter the user name, domain name, and password of a
different user account that has administrative
permissions on this computer.

To run as the local administrator in Windows 2000:

Click Start, right-click Windows Update, and then click
Run As on the menu that appears.
Do one of the following:
Enter the password for the administrator.
Enter the user name, domain name, and password of a
different user account that has administrative
permissions on this computer.

If the option to run as the local administrator is not
available:

Click Start, right-click Windows Update, and then click
Properties.
Click the Shortcut tab, and then select the Run as
different user check box.

So now that I've removed the hyjacker from the system,
I'm still not able to perform transactions on line...I am
directed to a "page not able to be displayed" type
message. It seems like a lot of people have this problem
from reading the newsgroup.

Try LSP-Fix - a free program to repair damaged Winsock 2 stacks
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
or WinSockFix
http://members.shaw.ca/techcd/VB_Pro...WinsockFix.zip

Before I go to these fixes, I noticed the web address is
sometimes http and othertimes https...if I delete the s
portion, I am able to proceed to even more screens, but
not always or to all screens. So my symptoms are not
able to do transactions/login into secure sites on line
and when I try to use Windows Update I get an Activex
error message. Still the Winsock fix, or would it be
something else? Thanks.

No. If you can browse some sites those fixes are not applicable.
