"ActiveX component can't create object" error in Access 2000

Some thing happened to my PC where ActiveX in Access don't work anymore.
Trying to link Excell tables or creating a button in a form returns the error
in subject. I repaired office 2000 and maintained PC and my updates are
current. Can any one help? Thanks.
