Hi

I've installed sp2 on my win xp.

Now my Internet Explorer can't install activex component.

I've already test to set sites on Trusted Sites, but nothing.

If I go on http://office.microsoft.com it can't upgrade office because it
can't install Active x for office update.

If I uninstall sp2 from my xp, activex works good again.

How can I do?

Hi JESUS :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Allow active content to run in files on My Computer - Windows XP Service
Pack 2:
http://www.winxptutor.com/lmzunlock.htm

and....

ActiveX problems in IE
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers3.htm#activex

Active x Errors and Settings

ActiveX problems in IE
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers3.htm#activex

If the security level is set to high then it will be blocking ActiveX
Controls: Set the security level to Medium.

View the Browsers How-to regarding updating your browser security settings.
http://www.auburn.edu/oit/support/em...m_security.php
and Setting your browser to medium-level security

or................

For best security set Active X settings to:

My settings are for Active X are:
Prompt
Disable
Disable
Prompt
Prompt

or.....

1. Try temporarily disabling your firewall to see if HTTPS then works
correctly.
2. You may have other software installed that is blocking ActiveX content.
3. An option in anti-spyware software you installed and enabled.
4. Could be a BHO (browser helper object) that you installed to provide
additional protection; use BHO Demon to see them, or use Spybot's tools to
list them.
5. You may have used SpywareBlaster to install kill switches in the registry
so certain ActiveX controls will not run, and you've hit one of those
malware AX controls.
6. It may be that you installed lots of other stuff that will affect the web
over which IE has no control.
7. It may be that the developer of the website has programmed something into
the page that is causing the problem. You will have to contact the
webmaster and let them know.

also.............

Set your Security to Med.
View the Browsers How-to regarding updating your browser security settings.
http://www.auburn.edu/oit/support/em...m_security.php
and setting your browser to medium-level security

SP2 can expose scumware that may have been hidden previously... check the
information here as well:

Hope this helps :-)

Have you tried changing your IE Security settings?

Tools > Internet Options > Security (tab)

I would try individually changing any set to DISABLE ActiveX controls to
PROMPT - one at a time. Or to ENABLE if PROMPT is not a choice.

Close IE and go to
Control Panel > Internet Options > General (tab)
Click Delete Files (to delete your Temporary Internet Files - aka TIF)
Also, click the Clear History Button
Launch IE and see if ActiveX controls display OK

If no change, then go back to the Security tab and uncheck another
'disabled' ActiveX setting. Don't forget to exit IE before retesting.

You may also want to run Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool.

You mentioned you are having problems with zone.com (actually
http://zone.msn.com/en/root/default.htm).

If you are referring to the 3-4 panes that do not display gif files, ActiveX
controls, etc. Then this is probably your HOSTS file (with no extension).

My HOSTS file is at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC

Try:
(1) Close all instances of IE
(2) Rename HOSTS (e.g. HOSTS.BAK)
(3) Launch IE and see if the images appear

Or you can download a tool that will 'effectively' do this for you. Namely,
it will toggle the HOSTS file.

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/hoststoggle.html

If you toggle the HOSTS file you should be able to see everything on
zone.com. Assuming you are really interested in viewing the panes with
advertising content.

Let us know if this works.

No, the problem is not a Maliciuos Software.

I've already wrote:

If I install on a new pc (formatted) an Windows Xp Sp1

Activex Installation works good

Then install Sp2 from windows update
Activex don't work.

Other case:

I format a pc, install Windows Xp sp2 (included)

Active x works good.

The problem is not a maliciuous software, but the upgrade from sp1 to sp2

How can I do to not format my pc with my personal data without this problem?

Thank you
