Active Desktop (XP) on Vista?

Can I still do the active desktop feature of XP on Vista where I can put
individual pictures etc on the desktop, resize them, lock them onto the
desktop?

Active Desktop is not included in Vista. It was a vector for infection
so I suppose that is why the Vista team left it out.

If by any chance you have Vista Ultimate, try Dreamscene to add a little
twist to your desktop! If not, it's back to those static pictures...
