Active Desktop Recovery Problem

This problem keeps occuring. While surfing my internet pages will lock-up
and then say not responding. Computer will then go to Active Desktop
recovery. This happens about 4-5 times a day. Additionally, ie will lock up
everytime I click a hyperlink directed to a .pdf file. If I am using AOL
these problems don't occur. I am using IE 6.0.2800.1106.. Anyone have
suggestions on how I can fix this problem.
