Hi,

After a disk crash, I had to replace and reinstall Windows
2000 Server standard edition (French) with SP4. Have
Active Directories running correctly and wish to activate
DNS.

However, when I go into DNS services management, under the
Redirectors section, the Activate redirectors box is
disactivated, and I see a line which says that the
redirectors are not available because this is a root
server ("serveur racine" in French). So in fact I can not
add any redirector IP adresses.

Don't remember installing this server in a different way
but I must have done something.

Any ideas gratefully received.

If you look in the DNS Management console, you will see a zone with the name
"." delete that zone and your problem will go away.
