I have reinstalled Windows XP Pro on the same hard disk to eliminate a nasty
virus. I have a valid CD and all worked fine. However activation is being
denied. Any solutions pls?

There is now a new policy (so I was told when I last had to activate my
RETAIL copy of XP by phone instead of the internet) that all versions of XP
are now only allowed ONE internet activation in the lifetime of the
software.

Use the Telephone Activation. There is no restrictions as to how many times you can activate on the same PC . The info by others is wrong.

That is simply untrue. You can activate as many times as needed on the same PC by telephone
