is there a way around using a license too many times?
i am installing it on a virtual machine, done this before, worked fine,
now it claims that the license has been used too many times.

Hello,

so you installed it and are running it simultaneously on more than one
machine, including the virtual machine? Normally, this can't work because
every license (unless volume license) is for a single device.
There shouldn't be a way around it - it's license policy.

Greetings,

"Vurtual Machines" require different license. These are considered to
be different PCs and require unique license per settings. Just like
a "dual" boot setting.

You will have to call to activate. Of course if you have the copy
actually installed in more than one location, then you are outside the
terms of the EULA.
