Outlook 2007 will not be obsolete when Outlook 2010 is released. It will
remain supported for years yet. If you don't wish to purchase Office 2010
when it's released, don't. Do you buy a new car every year just because a new
model is released?

Yes. Only one version of Outlook can be installed at any one time. Trial
versions must be uninstalled before installing a retail version.

Uninstalling one version of Outlook and installing a new one does not touch
the existing accounts. Those are kept in the mail profile in the registry and
are still there even if you uninstall and reinstall. The installation may
create a new profile but the old will still be there are all you need to do is
use the Mail applet in Control Panel to designate it as the profile Outlook
should choose.
