In ppt 2003, after selecting my object the action setting stays grayed out,
am trying to hyperlink to another ppt briefing because one is portrait and
the other is landscape.

Diane,

are you clicking on a grouped object? You cannot assign action settings to
a group. But the object will retain the hyperlink, if you assign the action
setting first and then group the objects.

Kind regards,
Ute

my slide is a very busy flowchart, if I select one box then the action
setting goes black but when I try to select all the boxes and lines the
action setting stays gray. Would I have to select each item one at a time?
Thanks

If you want the same action setting for all your boxes, then you can do a
couple of things (none as easy as selecting them all and setting them
all). You can set one up the way you want it, hit the TAB key to select
the next one and then ctrl-Y to repeat the action setting for that one.
Alternatively, you can draw a transparent or mostly transparent shape on
top of you diagram and set the Action Setting for that.
