Hello.

MS Antispyware blocked the acs.bat on my laptop during startup. As far as I
can recall, I have had that batch file from the day i bought the laptop.
Should I be worried?

Script blocking has some major issues and it has been reported many times
here. I would turn it off and hope it gets fixed in beta 2.

As Andre indicated, it's a bug in MSAS *but* the batch file is from a third-party
software installation. I have the (same) or (similar) on my laptop and do not allow
it to run without any issues.
Type "msconfig" (no quotes) from your Run > Dialog box, go to the "startup"
"TAB" > scroll to the "acs.bat" entry > uncheck > Apply and OK your way out.
Reboot if you like and away you go.
There's no need to worry, as this is not a malicious file.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the message Randy.

I wonder if Dell included it in their inatallation of Windows XP? (I have a
Inspiron 5150 with XP Pro).

I didn't notice any ill effects after ACS.bat was blocked (or when
unblocked). Would be nice to know exactly what its is there for. Any ideas
anyone?

As I stated in my previous reply, it is *likely* installed by third-party software
and
not Dell, although, in your case you would have to check with Dell as I run an older
machine.

It is evidently a batch file that wants to run on start-up, why, I've Googled
repeatedly and found little to convince me to allow it to run.

I don't believe that I have the file blocked via MSAS but I (do) have it disabled
from running via MSCONFIG.
