Not really the same.
If the Acronis User's Guide wasn't copyrighted I could post the actual copy
from the User's guide.
Basically incremental is like system restore in that there is a base, plus
let's say daily files,
and you can restore to any selected point as long as all files are intact.
Can take up a lot of space if many points are saved.
Differential is the base plus one file which incorporates all changes since
the base.
Minimal space requirement.
Two different approaches depending on the user's desires.
At least a choice is available.
Speaking of choices.
There is also a Snap Restore that can save considerable time if you have a
20 or 30 GB Operating System imaged.
You can start using the restored image as soon as the system files are
restored.
I compare it to being able to use your computer while a backup is being
created, only in reverse.
The User Guide is a 2.278 MB download.
It can be downloaded from :
http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/download/docs/
I have no connection with Acronis or any business advertising or selling
their products.
Just a happy user who dumped Drive Image after Norton bought Powerquest.
