I had set the parameters for True Image to perform an automatic backup at
1:00 PM every Monday and it worked flawlessly for the past several weeks.
Today, however, TI didn't start and after about 30 minutes I checked the log
and found a message indicating that the backup priority had been changed to
Low (I don't know from what). True Image's homepage guided me through a
sequence intended to change or adjust backup priorities, but none of the
links opened and I couldn't find a way to raise the priority higher.
Additional information indicated that the preset for auto backup was set to
low, and I have no idea why the warning message was issued to tell me that
it had been changed.

I was able to force a successful incremental backup and the scheduler hasn't
changed. Why didn't TI start this time automatically?

Since the priority got set to low, it probably wouldn't run if anyone
was using the computer. Is that a possibility?

Isn't there a settings for backups where you can control that sort of
thing? Seems like there should be. I seem to recall there was one in
fact - one of the properties settings.

Normally people run backups overnight or after the end of the
computer-day. Then all you have to do is check now and then to be srue
they are working. I'm a Ghost user & don't use TI any more, so that's
about all I can guess at<g>.

user) and I haven't experienced this failure (or extended delay) before.
Since I was able to force a back-up I am content to wait until next Monday
to see what happens.

No, but I went to True Image's home page and found a means to change the
backup priority level. Unfortunately, the suggestions didn't work for me.
And I didn't realize that the priority level is set to Low by default
because I couldn't see the alert message until I looked at the log file. I
thought that as a single owner-user I probably had administrator privileges;
maybe I should check that out too.

I'll check the source you provided now.

In this case, highly unlikely. I knew the preset time was coming up and
deliberately stopped working and closed the obvious running programs and
applications. And as I said earlier, True Image had functioned before even
when I was working and I never knew it until advisory message about backup
completed successfully popped up.

What's referred to is actually a security feature of the Windows Scheduler,
which TrueImage uses to schedule backups.

Otherwise, this actually has nothing to do with TrueImage.

The security feature is that scheduled tasks may not run if they are
assigned to a local user account that does not have a password.

Forcing a backup does not invoke the scheduler, so you will not see the
problem there. Change the schedule to a couple of minutes away to test
the scheduled task.

My thanks to both of you, Patrick and JS. I have printed the pages
referring to this failure, but there are still a few unresolved issues which
I am quite content to pursue on my own.

1. Acronis TrueImage HAS started and run prior to this week, using the
scheduled time provided within the program itself, and without my ever
setting a password. This is simple to do, however, and I held back from
setting a password because it never seemed necessary.

2. Spybot Search and Destroy was set by myself in the Scheduled Tasks list
(again, no password) and it always performs its update without fail.

I appreciate your clear advice.
