Acrobat Reader 6.0 and Windows Journal Viewer conflict

Every time I click on a PDF file, Acrobat Reader 6 starts to open, and
then the process is interrupted as a Windows Journal Viewer window
appears and tries to install itself onto the computer, but It can't find
it's installation file.

The error message says the resource can't be found, and even though I
click the Cancel button or click the X button, the installer keeps
trying to install Windows Journal Viewer Installer.msi and won't go to
the background, forcing me to turn off the computer.

Hi,

There is also this link from adobe which you may want to try first.
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/329118.html

if no luck you could try running the windows installer cleanup to see if
there are any entries to windows journal viewer and try removing them.

Thanks a lot Paul!

I tried that advice from the Adobe Web site, and also took your advice
to install and download the windows Cleanup Installer, but those tips
didn't work because the computer couldn't find the old Journal Viewer
(and I couldn't find it when I searched for it, too) so I installed
Journal Viewer from the Microsoft site.

Now finally this pesky and difficult problem has been solved, and
Acrobat Reader is opening as it should when I click on P.D.F. files.

Adobe Reader 8 is out - maybe it can fix your problems.
