Hi all,
Hoping for some suggestions. The bios isn't that old (2001)?
XP Pro pc with periodic stop errors on shutdown - will post exact code next
time error rec'd. Turning back on - pc prompting for safe mode boot. The
only option that worked was "returning pc to last know working hardware
configuration.
Going to event viewer shows ACPI errors daily. Drivers all current. Board
is ASUS TUV4X, P3 - 1000 mhz, 768 ram. I deselected "enable hibernation"
from MS support KB info on ACPI errors on shutdown.

Am I missing something here?

Follow the instructions in your motherboard's manual to update the bios.

One of the fixes in this bios should address the ACPI issue on your
motherboard with Windows XP.

Fix resuming from S3 fail if VIA bus master driver installed
Tuning dram timing with 4 dimms installed
Fix PCTel modem codec can not be detected
Fix HCT10.0 #PME Routing test fail
Fix nVidia TNT2 VGA Card hang with DirectX8.1 and nVidia driver
Remove ACPI BIOS Warning message under WindowsXP
