Hello, ng,

I built a new pc, and got some trouble too. In Bios, the computer was ACPI enabled. If
I disable ACPI the computer doesn't boot and I need to clear CMOS.

If S3 was enabled, the cpu fan runs far to fast, not recognizing 'Smart Fan Configuration'
causing lots of unwanted noise.

If S1 was enabled, short time after wake the cpu fan will stop spinning at all Can some
one please help.

Steve

Is your BIOS up to date?

If your BIOS shows both ACPI 2.0, and ACPI APIC settings, the ACPI 2.0
should be disabled with only the ACPI APIC enabled.

Building a new PC will require that you install the correct chipset
drivers that will let Windows access the chipset "controller" on the
motherboard.

Check on the motherboard manufacturer's web site and install the
correct drivers required.

Hello,

thank you for your feedback. I'm gonna try to answer your replies in one message, if
you don't mind. Else, please let me know.

The Bios was really hi tech I think. First I thought I get in trouble to boot at all. Then I
recocnized I couln't probably not install a cd drive and the main hard drive by the same
IDE connector. Not if you try to install Windows from this cd drive to the hard drive.

A SATA drive brought the solution, finally.

I don't think I got two ACPI choices. Its only one time ACPI enabled or disabled, and
below this option S1 or S3. Sorry, I'm not very familiar with this particular bios, yet.

I was on the manufacturere web site. The driver was provided as a rar file/archive. I
first need to figure how to open the download.

Bios was up to date I think. ACPI should work fine (Phoenix - AwardBIOSv6.00PG ).

I'm NOT gonna flash the Bios by now.

Could you please get back? I'm very thankful for the input.

Steve
