Will accounts 2008 export data to excell as well as import

i want to intergrate accounts 2008 into a construction estimating software i
am developing. I need to transfer data between the two programmes
particularly the job costing and budgets aswell as custumers product and
supplier etc using excel. Any idea if it can be done? and how?
