Few days ago I backed up data and freshly installed XP on new
harddisk. When I wanted to use Settings Transfer Wizard to restore
User (not administrator) account I found the folder where settings
were supposed to be empty. Fortunately I had complete backup of user
folder from c:\Documents and Settings\ so I created new user account
and succesfully overwrited it...
Everything works just fine except I cant switch this user to
limited. Well, I can but than it looks like new account without any
settings. Blue background withou wallpaper and no icons at all. Proper
wallpaper appears only when logging out for few seconds.
Logicaly I thought that limited user doesn't have folder
permissions for old settings as administrator had. So I made sure this
user has full permissions (maybe bad translation, I have localized
version) on his folder as well as All Users folder and service
folders. For this folders it has permissions to write, change and
everything else (I have WinXP Pro) and for every other folder
(including system folder and program files) just default users
permissions (read, write new, view ...) as it worked before.
Strange is when I tried to save settings with STW while account
works fine setted to admin, and than restore them when setted to
limited, the transfer wizard comes up with error about non-existing
Outlook identity and even when it finishes there aren't still no signs
of transfered settings at all. Not even a wallpaper. I repeat, this
user has all permisions of all folders that may be important.
Does anyone find this problem familiar? I'd really appriciate any
help, thx.
