Hello,
Yesterday night I accidentally turned off the graphics driver for
my computer. Can somebody tell me how I can turn it back on? Whenever
it goes to the windows xp start screen, it goes black. How exactly can
I fix this?

THANKS

Boot into Safe Mode and open your Device Manager.
Right-click on the Display Adapter and select Uninstall.
Reboot and Windows XP will reinstall the generic VGA
driver. Next, download the latest Windows XP drivers
from your video adapter manufacturer's web site and install.

1. Restart in Safe Mode.

2. In Device Manager (Control Panel | System | Device Manager), double click
your display adaptor under the line "Display adapters." A window should pop
up. On the General tab, select "Use this device (enable)" in the "Device
usage" drop-down box.

3. Reboot.

When I try to rebppt in safe mode, all it does is show this big list
and freezes there. I don't know what the list is and it does the same
thing for all three different types of safe modes.

This dosen't correlate:
You turned off your "Graphics driver"?? What exactly do you mean by that?
If you are at least getting the XP start up screen then you have graphics,
ALL graphics either as a card or a basic on-board chip have to meet
a basic criteria, so as to ensure that an image at least can be viewed
for, as an example, installing new graphics card - it will function so as
to allow us to install drivers etc etc The black screen is probably some
other issue, unless you can explain exactly how you "turned off" a
"graphics driver"????

Well, we had somebody come over last night and fix it. He just
reinstalled windows XP on our computer and it seems that that fixed the
problem.
Anyways, I can tell you how I turned the graphics card off.
Right-click desktop, properties, settings, advanced, adapter,
properties, device usage drop-down menu, turn-off device. Don't ask me
why I did this, because I'd rather not talk about that.
The computer still automatically booted from CD-ROM drives before it
starts windows, and we still had the chance to boot in different modes
(F8), or use F2 for system settings, and F12 (I forgot what that one
did). The problem was that the computer would go black after the
windows logo showed up on boot.
Thanks a lot for the help.
