Accidentally closing Outlook

I've come across this workaround to prevent this problem:

However, someone I know has had her pc configured to prompt every time
before exiting. Is this something that can be done in Outlook? Or is it a
registry thing?

I've looked in the Microsoft Knowledgebase as well with no success.

This is the only way to prompt outlook before closing:

I know of no registry setting that will prompt you before closing outlook.

If you mean when she logs off the computer, that is a bug in some versions
of outlook

Additionally to Diane's solution, which is for free but you never know
whether there's still a 'real' message waiting in the outbox or not (unless
you hit the NO button and switch to the outbox), here's an addin based
solution:
