No need to change your laptop's domain membership - and don't do it unless
you enjoy groveling in front of your domain admin. ;-)
As long as you can get an IP address while connected to the home network,
and ping the XP home PC by IP address & then by name from the laptop, you
can map a drive to a share, whatnot, and provide the 'remote' credentials -
one way is thus:
net use x: \\computername\sharename /user:computername\username <enter>
Supply the password, and you should be authenticated. You can then use the
shared drive, connect to a shared printer, etc....
