Accessing shared folder locks client computer over VPN

Hi All

I have a really strange problem that I cannot find out why.

I have set a VPN tunell between 2 2000 Server using 2 x multitch VPN routers.
The vpn is establised fine & I can ping both ways.

I can map a network drive on one of the client computers, but when I go into
the map drive and tryu to access a folder or file that was alreday there
before the VPN the clinet compyte locks. If I craete a new folder and create
a new file in it I can open this fine.

The stange thing is that from one computer on the network everhtying works
fine , I can open folders and even transfer files across the VPN.

So I cannot understand why all of the other 10 clinets always lock.

I have tried logging on as different users on all the computer but nothing
works only the original client that always works before still continues to
work whilst the others do not.

I can ponly assume that it may be a permissions error on the target server,
but I cannot understand what as stated before one of the remote clinet
computers works everytime (even logging on as the same user as another client)


The system is not running a Domain - the server is set basically as a
workgroup server.

Any help would be appreciated
