Accessing Remote assistance

When I try to request remote assistance, I immediately get the message, "Your
current system settings prevent you from sending an invitation."
The oiption does not even <appear> in Messenger.
Windows Firewall exceptions is set to permit remote assistance.
Any ideas, anyone?
