I have sucessfully managed to get my Laptop and Desktop talking to each
other. Both use XP Home edition. The desktop has a cable modem to connect to
the Internet and I am usng Zone Alarm Firewall free version. My problem is
that I can only access the Internet or Outlook Express on the Laptop by
disabling Zone Alarm. I have searched through Zone Alarm for possible
options but have not found anything to overcome the problem. Help would be
very much appreciated.

have you added the ip addresses into the trusted zone of the Zone Alarm
firewall tab?

Thank you Tougharms.
The following data appears in the trusted zone:
USB cable modem 351000-Packet scheduler miniport 82.5.15.22/255.255.255.0
VIA compatible fast ethernet adapter-Packet scheduler miniport
192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0
The USB cable modem is attached to the desktop. The VIA refers to the
laptop.
I can see the above addresses when run IPCONFIG on each computer.
So are these as they should be?
