I updated some workstations and now the users can not get to their hotmail
accounts. The page comes up and says it can not be displayed.

Windows XP Professional
SP1 with all the latest critical uptates.
They can not update to SP2, as they have applications that are not
compatible with SP2.
HP EVO 310 with 256 MB or RAM.
I've emptied the Temporary files. Set the Internet Explorer options to
default.

Not sure what else to do.

Any ideas?

Where I work, We have the same issue. If you click "back" a couple times
quickly you get to the "login" screen click on "my msn" and you'll notice you
are able to see your personel MSN home page? (logged in)? But, Hotmail links
still show "Page cannot be displayed" Here is an MSKB article that supposedly
addresses this issue.
