Accessing decimal columns via ADO.NET results in zeros being returned

A strange occurrence: We have an access table with columns defined as
decimal (18,6). Values are successfully saved into the table. But, when
they are retrieved using a datareader and the GetDecimal method, they
always come back as being 0, rather than the actual non-zero value that
is in the table.

Anyone ever seen this strange behavior and know the cure? We are using
ADO.NET on a Framework 1.1 windows application; the client machine has
mdac 2.8 sp1 on it. Jet is major version 4.

Thanks,
KJ
