Hi all...
I have a problem with data that I placed on a HDD with W2K pro.
I placed data on a HDD with W2K. I then moved the HDD to my XP box. XP see
the data but all the folder and file names are in green and the attributes
are read only. I treid to change the attributes but this does not solve the
problem.
The error when I try to open files is can not acces read only document and

I have installed sp1a on XP.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Jaco

you need to export you certificate and private key from the first machine
that was used for EFS and import on your second machine to decrypt the
files:

The files in "green" are encrypted, as David said, you'll need to import
the certificate/key of the profile that encrypted the files or if a recovery
agent was designated, its certificate/key. If you don't have the cert/key,
then the data is just wasting space on your hard drive as there is no
backdoor.
