I've reinstalled Windows XP Pro on a network PC and I
cannot connect to a shared resource on another PC on
lan. I was able to connect in the past. I setup TCP/IP
to automatically assign. Any thoughts

Have you changed anything? First thing to check would be your firewall or
any other security software that might be interfering, check the options, if
you can't find anything, try disabling the software and see if you then gain
access.
