I hate when that happens. What I did to fix it:
Control Panel> Accessibility Options.
Go through each option (especially Sticky Keys) and uncheck the box to use
the feature.

IMPORTANT STEP: Also for each feature, click the Settings button. On the
screen that appears, uncheck the box next "use shortcut." This will
disable the keyboard shortcut.

For example, keyboard shortcut for sticky keys is pressing Shift 5 times.
While playing a game that uses Shift for game play, you will get
interrupted by Sticky Keys making an appearance. Disable the keyboard
shortcut in Accessibility Options, use shift key (or whatever key) as much
as you need to and enjoy the game.
