Dear evveryone
I have a friend who asked me to help her in the following
senario.
She wants to work at home on her laptop(windows XP Home
edition) to access a Microsoft Access database file,
which is sittng on a work PC(windows 2K Pro) at office.
To make it easier, here we call this work PC as MSACCESS.
The Access database file is being used by other workers
to enter data at office as well.
The MSACCESS is connected with another two Windows2KPro
as a WORKGROUP at office. Those three PCs in the
WORKGROUP has signed static IP addresses( 192.168.1.5-
192.168.1.7, with subnet mask 255.255.255.0). There is
another windows2kPro (Here we call it SERVER)is connected
to internet with ADSL. The boss of the work is not
connecting those there WORKGROUP machines with SERVER
yet, considering the security issue from Internet, and
there are confidencial business information on those
three PCs.
However, to make my friend be able to work at home, I
propose to connect those three PCs (WORKGROUP) to SERVER,
then configure SERVER as VPN SERVER, then configure
laptop as VPN client. Then hopefully the laptop can
access MSACCESS through VPN SERVER.
At moment, I can make VPN connection between laptop and
VPN SERVER with VPN SERVER's public IP address. However,
I do not know how can this laptop access internal
WORKGROUP, where MSACCESS resides.
Can anyboy here give me any precious hints?
Thanks so much
Jen
