Hi,
Its been awhile since i've done any type of website. When i use ti use
Frontpage i could run a personal web server on my pc till i was ready to
publish externally. I want to do this now but cannot find anything about PWS.
Do i still need it? How do i set up my pc so the website can be accessed from
outside? Sorry if this is a stupid question, it really has been awhile for
me.

Thanks ,
Scott

I am not sure what is the relevance of PWS.

But, I will try to answer.

You need to have a web server to which you are authorised. This may be a
free site from your ISP, or elsewhere, or one which you have subscribed to.
An example is http://trevorl.mvps.org/ Your web server will have a domain
name such as mvps.org and you will be allocated a site name such as trevorl

You need to publish the site on your PC to this site on the web server.

There is an option on FrontPage for Publish. In FP2003, it is File|Publish
Site... In most cases, this should *not* be set to FTP transfer.

When you click on Publish Site, you will be asked for Username and Password.
These will have been given to you by your web site supplier.

Enter these and there will be two sites: Remote and Local. Local is the site
which was opened in FP, Remote is the other site.

Click on Publish and the Local site will be transferred to the Remote site
(or vice versa). When you have published from your site on the PC to that on
the web server, it will be available to the public.

This may not be enough help but perhaps your web provider can give more.
