Access violation at 0x7C918FEA

When my computer starts up, I get the following error message:

"Error: Access violation at 0x7C918FEA (tried to write to 0x01C86A83),
program terminated."

The Event Viewer shows an error with source crypt32. (eight in a row, event 8)

The other remarkable thing in Event Viewer during the same startup is 69
warnings, source MsInstaller, Event 1001 and 1004). I don't know if it is
related to the error.

Any tip on what to do would be appreciated.

Regards,

Hans L

Hans

You need to copy complete Error Reports.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

I don't think they have anything to do with the error, but I am not sure.

Are you up to date installing Windows updates?

I will look at your second post tomorrow.

Gerry, when I wrote "No info at the url. ", I meant
"http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp".

I did not see right away that there was another url:

http://www.download.windowsupdate.co...uthrootseq.txt

which lead to "1401C842986A9A37D7". Now, I have, of course, no idea what to
do with this id number :-(

I found an answer of sourts here:
http://www.jsifaq.com/SF/Tips/Tip.aspx?id=6573

Same as yours: "Are you up to date installing Windows updates?"

the answer to that is that I should, since I have automatic downloads of
Windows componenents, but I will check just in case.

Now, I restarted my computer, adn I did not get this error message, so
perhaps it was simply a connectivity issue?

I got the same warnings for msInstaller, though.

I have printed your url reference and will look at it.

Thanks!

Hans L
In any event,
