I'd like to connect several users via RD or MS Terminal Services to a Windows
2003 Server. The remote location has Satellite HSIA but connection has a
severe (5-6 sec) latency problem which makes application usage impossible.
I've been told that using a Multitech RF102S router in combination with two
56K dialup lines from the 2K3 server to the Internet will allow me to connect
my clients via the Internet back to the server via the RF102S router with
port forwarding on port 3389. at a connection speed approaching 100K with no
latency.
Anyone have any experience with this or any other advice/solution
recommendations? My concern is whether or not the dialup modems will be able
to maintain the speed without dropping the connection and how does the IP
address get assigned so that the client RDP can connect. Do I need to request
a static IP address for the two dialup modems?
There are no DSL or Wireless solutions coming to the area's we need the
solutions for, long distance charges make dial-in impractical and the
business operation doesn't make enough to carry the cost of T1. ISDN was
considered but the long distance cost once again makes it impractical.
TIA for any assistance.
