Access machines across 2 workgroups

I am wondering if one machine in workgroup1 can see another machine on workgroup2. I have found that since the release of Windows 2000, I have to put all machines under the same workgroup before they can see each other. Am I missing anything

No, you can see another machine even they are in the different workgroup.
You may need to wait a longer time to see another, one thing you can do is
using WINS server so that the computer browser can be updated faster.
