Hi,
I know that this issue has been addressed many times, but the
solutions that I have found so far haven't worked.

I am running WinXP home with all updates, IE explorer
6.0.2900.2180.xp_sp2, with all updates.
As far as protection goes, I have ZoneAlarm 6.1.744.1 free version.
I also have the latest AdAware with adwatch installed.
I have the latest version of AVG free, Spyware Blaster and Spyware
guard installed.
I am running a D-Link Di-604 router, set at the default mode. I have
a ASDL internet connection.

The error message that I am getting when I try to access any ftp site
is: "FTP Folder Error" Windows cannot access this folder.Make sure
that you have typed the file name correctly and that you have
permission to access the folder. Details: A connection with the server
could not be established.

Any ideas as to where to start would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Try experimenting with the FTP options in the Advanced tab?
E.g. if it is currently set as
[Check] Enable folder view for FTP sites
and
[Check] Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility)
trying unchecking either or both.

Also, do you have permission to use that FTP server?
Does it allow anonymous login? Test your assumptions
using the ftp command line tool (in a cmd window).

E.g. if you find it doesn't allow anonymous login you may
only need to use the File, Login As... dialog after you get
your error message. (That File menu command is only
available after an FTP connection is tried.)

Good luck
