Access denied while copying files

When copying files between two networked computers, both running XP, not all
files get copied. I get the message: cannot copy xxxx.xxx: Access is denied
with certain files. This applies to certain files only and is persistent
(even if I reboot both computers).

I can copy those files to a flash drive, and re-copy to the second computer,
but this defies the purpose of having a network. Any ideas?
