Richie,
When you MOVE a file or folder within a single
partition the moved result ends up
-initially with any inherited permissions that it
originally had carried along
-eventually with the inherited permissions replaced
so that those it had originally are gone and these get
replaced by what is correct for where it was move to.
This could account for what you have experienced.
When relocating things within a single partition, I will
usually do a copy and then delete the original, at least
I will do this if I know the permission of the moved from
and the moved to locations are different.
In the Home edition you have, the Security dialog is only
available when in an F8 safe mode boot. You should use
this to view the current permissions and adjust them as
needed so that your desired accounts have the needed
permissions. In doing this, if the account you us has no
permissions and also is not the owner, then you may need
to take ownership.
