Access Denied, Forbidden access

Hi All,

I am wondering if there is some place I have to edit in IE folder allowing
me to get access onto some of my banking sites that I used to be able to. I
get to them fine with FireFox, but not with IE6. It is on the same computer
as well. Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks,
dreamer

Hi dreamer :-)

You do not mention the version of Windows you are using, or provide the
exact wording of your error message, but, try the following and see if it
helps:

If you have any 3rd party toolbars such as Google or Yahoo, disable them.
If you have any 3rd party ad or popup blockers, disable them.

Try adding the site to your Trusted Zone. Also, check your Restricted Zone
and be sure it is not in that list.

Rename your HOST file:

Check for a hosts file (just "hosts" not hosts.sam or lmhosts) in these
locations:
Windows XP… C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows 2K… C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC

Change the name to hosts_old. Windows will create a new hosts file for you
when you reboot. Close Windows Explorer and try the site again.

also......

also..

If you are using a cable modem or are behind a router then ...

Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections (TAB) > LAN Settings
(Button).
Make sure the "use a Proxy server..." is UNchecked
And be sure to check the box next to "Automatically detect settings" and see
if that helps:

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

I guess the novice in me showed through. I am using Windows XP Pro. I tried
one thing from your list and it seemed to work out great! I was auto detect
proxy settings. I had it set to a proxy that my ISP had given me when I
started with cable modem. Thanks very much for your assistance. I have saved
your complete recommendation just in case I run into problems like this
again.

Your the best!
