By the look of your information, your database is not secured, so let's
ignore that.

There should be (have been) no problem using 2003/2002/2000 against a 2000
version mdb.

db1_backup.mdb - that looks like a name Access would give it when it had to
shutdown due to some error/corruption - it would create a backup of the
file.
Is that the exact error message you are getting? You could try to open
Access and go to Macro, Security and set it to low and then try to open the
database (if that item is missing from the Macro menu, then reset your
menubar).
