Access creates a new version

I'm having this problem here where i create a new database
in access 2002. Say i name the database Test.mdb. If open
it at a late time and close it, it renames the database
now to Test1.mdb. If i do it again it names it as
Test11.mdb, and so on.

Anyone ever seen this happan? and if so how do you fix it?
I've reinstalled office and the same thing happans.
