How do I access BIOS on a gateway machine. Esc,f2, or delete do not work.
Any help appreciated. John

What does the manual say? The access key is determined by the BIOS
manufacturer. So what ever BIOS gateway installed in that particular box
is the key. Also do all the keys work, since you say you tried the
common ones? Also timing of the key press is important.

Besides, you should see the key-press for SETUP during the start-up memory
test, even if it shows some stupid splash screen instead of real information.
Look in the lower left or right corners. Good luck!

You aren't using a USB keyboard, are you? The BIOS might not have
embedded support (i.e., code) to handle USB keyboards and mice; i.e.,
they don't get supported until the OS loads the drivers for them. If
that's the problem, you need to use a PS/2 keyboard during the bootup to
get BIOS to recognize your keyboard (and to allow any navigation and
changes in its BIOS screens).

Thanks for the help folks.......it is indeed a USB keyboard and no startup
information at all is displayed when it is switched on. It goes straight to
the splash screen with gateway on it. Through trial and error I found that
repeatidly pressing f1 got me into the bios. thanks again John.
