I have tried running the User-Level Security wizard in Access 97 using
Windows XP Professional on my desktop and Windows XP Home edition on my
laptop. On both machines, the wizard crashes.

Please help.

There is much more to security than running the wizard. Be sure to follow
all the steps outlined in the security FAQ:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=207793

Security Whitepaper
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=122036

Although the whitepaper is old, it contains information to help you
understand security.

I've also outlined the detailed steps at
www.jmwild.com/AccessSecurity.htm
