All:

Has anyone else expereinced a general error where when using one of
the menu items (File, View, and Tools does this for me) that it throws
a general error then closes out?

I'm on Windows XP using Access 97 on a Virtual Machine.

Do you have Access 97 SR-2 installed along with Jet 3.5 SP3?
See http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/msfixes.htm for more details.

I would uninstall and re-install. If that doesn't fix it, I'd try
uninstalling again and running the Office Eraser tool (I've lost the
link for it, unfortunately) and the re-installing. Be sure you
update to the SR2 version of Access and Jet 3.51.

In fact, backtracking on my advice, make sure you've updated to
those first, as theoretically, the older versions could be causing
the problem.
