ACCESS 97 character display problem

My ACCESS application being run in Office 97 under Win2K enviromnet recently
encounter the following problems :

It reads in data from various linked EXCEL files and insert it into an
ORACLE table linked by ODBC.

After insert, the data cannot be displayed correctly on screen when
retrieving from a query in ACCESS but it looks pefectly fine when you
retrieve the same data in SQL Plus from another PC.

Interesting thing is that not all the data has the same problem. Data from
one EXCEL file does but data from another EXCEL file does not.

Could someone kindly help to resolve the above problem.
